Ashley and Mike | Richland Barn Reception

When the craziness of the 2020 pandemic hit, Ashley and Mike were left to deal with how to handle a tough scheduling decision (along with many other 2020 wedding couples!) When going back and forth between new wedding dates and options, not once did they show exasperation and exhaustion trying to wrap their minds around how to react to having a wedding during the pandemic, or also how much work it took to re-schedule everything with their vendors.

After going back and forth between new wedding dates, Ashley and Mike decided to push their initial April 2020 wedding to November of 2020, having a small reception after the ceremony. They also decided to celebrate their marriage with a larger sized reception this past August 2021.

Their August reception was filled with excitement and energy! It was a re-uniting of friends and families that hadn’t seen each other for quite awhile. A few of Ashley and Mike’s bridal party members traveled a far distance to be a part of their larger reception, and it was such a joy to sit back and watch them as they greeted each other for the first time in years! The entire day was casual and laid back. There was no “typical” wedding day stress; it was a day for silliness, laughter, togetherness, and just outright fun.

Meghan and Shawn | Hilton Garden Inn Southpointe Wedding

Her smile is so bright that it can make anyone smile. His joy is contagious, and can turn anyone’s day from cloudy to sunny skies. Meghan and Shawn are one of the most pure-hearted, gentle, honest and giving couples that I have ever met. They emit the most genuine love for life, love for each other, love for their family, and also for their friends. They are a couple who make you feel like you are a better person just by knowing them.
So, it came as no surprise that their wedding day made each and every guest feel the feels, so to speak. Whether it was the quiet moments with grandma before the ceremony, the vows that made every single person tear up, the first dance that was quite literally a fairy-tale moment, or the beautiful emotions that flowed during parent dances. Every single second of their wedding day was so true to the ocean of love that surrounds them.

Julia and Jeff | Holy Trinity Center Wedding

Julia and Jeff: the epitome of the perfect couple. Not only are they completely in love, but they are go-with-the flow, kind, genuine, and incredibly giving. We first met Julia when we photographed her sister’s wedding (shout out to Amanda and Adam!) which seemed like it was only yesterday, but in reality it was six years ago in 2015! We say that time flies, but honestly!

One of the things I love most about Julia and Jeff is how important their family is to them. This sentiment was reflected in their wedding details and also in noticeable moments throughout their wedding day. For example, there was a dangle charm hanging from Julia’s bouquet with pictures of her loved ones. And, Julia made it a point to be the one to slide the corsage onto the wrist of someone who is close to her, her grandmother’s foster daughter, prior to the ceremony. Not only did Julia have a father-daughter dance, but she also had a mother-daughter dance. In the same manner, Jeff wore a memory pin on his suit, and his mother pinned his boutonniere onto him once he arrived at the church.

It is special to us to have gotten to know both of their families, and to watch their day unfold amongst not only family, but also close friends. So, here’s to this gold-hearted couple, and their amazing wedding day…

Brazen Boudoir

Now that some sort of normalcy exists post pandemic, I have opened up my boudoir sessions again! The Boudoir sessions that I offer take place in my home studio, and include the pampering treatment of hair and makeup application from a professional stylist prior to taking pictures.

The end result of a boudoir session is a perfect gift, not only your significant other, but also for yourself! They are very empowering, and even better, a ton of fun! I always encourage my boudoir clients to consider a range in attire so the pictures are diverse; a soft and sweet outfit, a sassy outfit, and a casual day-in-the-life outfit to name a few. This lovely lady brought this variety in attire, and absolutely nailed her pictures! She was a complete natural, as you can see in these images! Take a look and you’ll see what I mean!

Brittany and Ben | Southpointe Golf Club Wedding

“Hey, Leigh and Barry!” We hear from a familiar voice while we were strolling through the Strip District. I look over my shoulder to see Brittany and Ben, relaxing at a table and grabbing a bite to eat at Roland’s. We had just photographed this couple’s wedding in June, and to see them out and about on a usual day-to-day scenario put a smile on my face. We chatted for a bit, and it reminded me of how well we all click. I remember thinking this same thing when I photographed their engagement session.

Brittany and Ben’s engagement session was actually the last that I photographed right before the pandemic hit. And, by chance, we run into each other frequently! Last summer, I received a text message from Brittany; she and Ben saw me at a distance running around Point State Park! I love bumping into them! We truly have a lot in common, which made it a natural fit for photographing their wedding day.

Speaking of photographing wedding days; two of my past bride/grooms were at Brittany and Ben’s wedding! I photographed Persephone and Phil’s wedding in 2017, and Mary Beth and Nick’s wedding in 2011 (one of my first weddings!) It was so much fun to see them all again; I had to take a picture with all three of these brides (scroll down to the end to see this picture! And the photo bomb in the background!)

I can’t say enough good things about Brittany and Ben. They are genuine, funny, have hearts of pure gold, and are 200% perfect for each other. And, on top of their romance, you can see how naturally they fit together; they are truly best friends.
