Boudoir

The Experience

Boudoir Photography: the artistic expression of the female form. Boudoir can be soft, sweet, sensual, sexy, playful, pensive, mysterious, or really, all of the above. It uses light to accentuate curves, and atmosphere to create a mood. It is an expression of one’s inner self: a self that most people don’t get to see, but a self that wants to be heard.

One of our first touchpoints may begin with a phone conversation. Whether or not you’ve already booked the session, I’m more than happy to have an initial conversation to answer any questions that you have about it. Your comfort level is important to me!

Once your session is booked, you will receive a Boudoir Prep Guide in the mail. This Guide provides recommendations and inspiration for everything related to the session: such as where to find outfits, how to vary your outfit selection, how to hone in on the mood and look that you’d like to achieve , and it will also provide tips for hair/ skin/ nail prep. This Guide is also a great jump-start as to what to expect on your session day.

Once you have reviewed the Guide and have gathered together some outfits and ideas, we chat on the phone to discuss them. We’ll talk about the look that you’d like to achieve, your outfit selection, and the flow of events on the day of your session. If you are unsure about any of the above, that’s not a problem! I am here to lend suggestions and to give you guidance on how to make these decisions.

On the day of your session, we begin with your hair and makeup application. A personal, professional hair and makeup artist will be on-site, who will flawlessly create the style that you have envisioned. Light
refreshments such as chocolate, fruit, and pastries will be scattered throughout the studio, and are yours to enjoy while you are being pampered. When you are finished being styled, you will feel relaxed, confident, and ready to jump into the photography session.

Throughout your session, I demonstrate each and every position, so you can envision the essence of the image that I’m about to take, and also so you know what to do. After a few clicks of the camera, you’ll be surprised to find that you may want to take it even further than my instruction, and ad lib a bit! Most of my clients surprise themselves because they unexpectedly feel comfortable enough to do this. Our session time flies by, and by the end, you’ll be feeling great about yourself, and will want to do the session all over again because it was so much fun. I’ve actually had clients book a second session because they had such a great experience!

Ultimately, the Boudoir Sessions that I offer are an experience- not a quick photo shoot. While the end product of your Boudoir Session may be for someone else, your experience of the session is for you, and it is just as important as the end product. Your boudoir experience begins with our very first touchpoint, and extends all the way to the day that I deliver your end product.

It is my goal to make you feel comfortable, confident, and luxuriously pampered throughout your boudoir experience. You deserve to feel this way.
