Four Dachshunds brought Rebecca and Kyle together. Well, not really, but when Rebecca first saw a picture of Kyle and his two Dachshunds, she instantly knew that they would be a good fit. You see, Rebecca also loves Dachshunds, and ironically also has two of them.
Rebecca and Kyle are a laid-back and fun couple that keep each other smiling every second. You can see how much they make each other glow just by looking at these images!
We photographed their engagement session throughout the Strip District. Although it was drizzling the entire session, the rain brought a light mist over the city that was magical to look at.
This lovely couple is getting married in September 2021 at the Five Pines Barn, and we couldn’t be more excited to be a part of their day! Here are a few of my favorites from their engagement session…
Many have asked what I did in my down time during the pandemic. Well, truthfully, there is never down time for me. It is hard for me to sit still! Besides my office renovations this year, I also decided to refresh my branding and create a new website for LLP!
So, after months on end of learning how to create a new website, and also transfer the history of our blog posts to this new site, we are *finally* up and running! Technically, we turned over to this new website in July, but there were some kinks to work out based on a plethora of technological factors (who knew that different internet browsers read the structure of a website differently?! Now I do!) I didn’t want to make the announcement about our new website until we had worked out all of the kinks; or most of them, at least. A shout out to Barry who spent hours on end figuring out the toughest kinks. He is an IT wizard.
On top of the new website, I also decided to take on another huge project: creating a new logo for the business. You wouldn’t believe how long this task took me- I think it took three weeks alone to land on the font selection!
So, without further ado, I will show you a few of the exciting new features of our new website! Each topic below is organized by the order that you see them in the header of our new website. I will point out a few of the differences our new website has.
A New Logo Since we typically refer to ourselves as LLP, I decided to use these initials as the focus of the logo rather than the written out “Lavender Leigh”. The new logo is sleeker and more sophisticated.
Home Page Instead of a rotating image gallery at the top of the Home Page, images on the new site are Instagram-style and static. This gives you a quick hit of some of our favorite images. Continue to scroll down the Home Page to see more images.
Click-through blog post thumbnails are no longer featured on the Home Page. Instead, our Blog has its own dedicated page, which can be accessed in the “Blog” selection in the website header. I mention more about the new Blog Page in the next section below.
BlogPage On the new website, you can access the blog by clicking on “Blog” in the website header. Once on the Blog page, you will see a grouping of eight thumbnail images. Each thumbnail represents a blog post, and these are my latest eight posts. If you hover over an image, you will see the name of the blog post. Click on the thumbnail to view it. If you want to see previous blog posts, click on the “Previous” arrow, and it will take you to the next grouping of thumbnail images, which are organized in the same way.
In addition, you can scroll below the group of eight thumbnail images to view full blog posts, which are organized chronologically.
Portfolio Page This page is similar to the “Categories” page on our previous website. Each genre (Boudoir, Weddings, Engagements, and Seniors) has its own dedicated page.
Boudoir, Wedding, Engagement Portfolio Pages The Boudoir, Wedding, and Engagement Portfolio pages feature a slideshow of images of that specific genre at the top of the page. You only need to hit the arrow on the right-hand-side of the slideshow to scroll through it. Underneath the slideshow of images, you will see a thumbnail for each blog post from that category. The blog posts are listed in chronological order. If you hover over a thumbnail image, you will see the title of that blog post. To view a specific blog post, click on the thumbnail image for it.
Also, at the bottom of the Portfolio Page, you will notice “Click Here for The Experience”. If you click on those words, you will be redirected to “The Experience” Page for that genre. See the next section for further details of “The Experience” Page.
Seniors Portfolio Page The Seniors Portfolio Page is different than the other genres’ Portfolio Page. The Seniors Portfolio Page is a gallery of static Instagram-style images. Keep scrolling down the page to view more of these images.
To view specific Seniors blog posts, type the word “seniors” into the search bar, which is located in the website header.
At the bottom of this Portfolio Page, you will notice the words “Click Here for The Experience”. If you click on those words, you will be redirected to “The Experience” Page for Seniors. See the next topic for the description of “The Experience” Page.
New Page- “The Experience” For each genre that I photograph, I have included a page that details what you will experience when you book a session with us. I wanted to include this page because it gives you a more comprehensive look at all of the touch points that we have with you to prep you for your photo session.
New Page- “FAQ” Along the lines of a more comprehensive website, we added a FAQ page, which provides you with our most frequently asked questions. To reveal the answer, you only need to click on the arrow at the end of each question.
About Leigh Page It is incredibly important to know and like your photographer (for weddings, you almost spend more time with them the day of the wedding than you do with the bridal party!) I decided to make this page more comprehensive, to help you get to know what I am like when I do not have a camera in my hand.
So, that’s the gist of our new website! Hopefully it is easy for you to navigate through. And, hopefully we’ve worked out all of the kinks (but let me know if you experience any issues with it!)
Thanks for taking the time to learn more about what we’ve been up to!

“You know, I met Becki’s parents’ and slept overnight at their house before I even knew Becki” Dan tells me as I am photographing their engagement pictures. This love story is clearly based on fate.
Becki and Dan met each other in college through their Adventure Club. Prior to meeting, Dan was leading a hike with the Club, and needed a place to stay overnight prior to the hike. Becki’s parents lived close to the trail head, and Becki offered up her parents’ house as a place for Dan and the Club to stay the night before the hike. All of this communication was done electronically and not in person, so Becki and Dan never met during this correspondence.
Fast forward to after the hike; Dan and Becki met at an Adventure Club event, and the rest is history.
Becki and Dan had to change their ceremony and reception venue due to 2020’s pandemic challenges, and landed on Gardens of Stonebridge during their new venue search. The Gardens of Stonebridge is actually the perfect backdrop for Becki and Dan because they love being outdoors, and they wanted the colorful fall leaves in as many of their pictures as possible.
Becki and Dan’s wedding day was intimate, and incredibly emotional. Whether it was the father/daughter reveal, the first dance, or the parent dances, smiles and happy tears were part of every phase of their day.
“We definitely want to take pictures with the city in the background,” Mike says as he, Jacquelyn and I meet in the months leading up to the wedding. Mike lived in the Strip District when he and Jacquelyn first met, so the picturesque Pittsburgh skyline brings back special memories for them.
And on their wedding day, there were a ton of amazing memories made. From the onset, just about every family member of Jacquelyn’s was present at some point while she was getting ready for the ceremony. It was so endearing to watch Jacquelyn’s (identical) twin sister, Jennifer, help Jacquelyn with her makeup, or their other sister, Jessica, put the final touches on the children, who were the ring bearers and also the flower girl. There was energy in the air, and it was a lot of fun for me to step back and capture every little moment that unfolded.
There were quite a few moments that were my favorite throughout their day; whether it was the bridal party toasts that were both funny and sentimental (to the point that I became teary-eyed), or just catching the little moments that Jacquelyn and Mike took to enjoy each other. We witnessed their day from the start to the very finish at the after party, and every single moment that Jacquelyn and Mike had together was full of love, laughter, and joy.
The Strip District is one of my absolute favorite spots to photograph. I love the city views, the architectural textures, and the grit-mixed-with-nature vibe. And, when you place an electric couple in this scene, there isn’t one bad picture!
Maty and Bryce are getting married in October of this year, and because Bryce is our relative, we get to attend a wedding rather than photograph it! Bryce and Maty came to me to take their engagement photos, and I was over-the-moon happy to be included in such a special time in their lives.
This couple has so much fun together- their energy is contagious! Take a look to see a few of my faves from their session…
